thank you mom.

we're all thinking about what we are thankful for.

i've become so thankful for my family, especially my mom. her & i have built up such a different, strong relationship since i moved here & i miss her so much.

i'm thankful that she wrote this blog post about me. heehee. she's cute.

i got sad tonight, watching It's Complicated because i saw it with her & my sister & bc Meryl REALLY reminds me of her, esp in this movie. ::tear:: i got a little choked up. no lie.

here's my pretty pretty mommy vintage style

.
&, even though it doesn't really tie into this post, like, at all, these photos just crack me up. (My mommy is the itty bitt!)

My Grandfather, the dapper gentleman in the back, is Paul McCobb, famous furniture designer from the 1950's (even though the Wiki has NOTHING about his wife & children... rude). The other doode is my mom's half brosi, Paul Jr. & the gorg-a-saurus is my Grandma, Molly. I, unfortunately, never got to meet Paul, since he passed when my mother was only 9, & I don't really remember Molly, since she passed when I was about 2.
but look at my itty bitt mommy pie!!!

eeeee, hahahahh!!!!!! She's sooooo cuteee!!!

I luv it when she tells me stories, like the time she wanted to watch The Wizard of Oz, even though she was realllly scared of the flying monkeys, & she'd run down the mirrored hallway from her parents room to the living room, basically just to tell her mom that she was scared, get in trouble, & RUN back to the room to keep watching, all to turn around & do it again. I don't know why, but i have a vivid idea, in my head, about what this whole saga looked like. i'm giggling just thinking about it.
I like the story about how she'd climb up the built in shelves to get things that she wasn't supposed to have & how 1/4 of her eye is green, while the other 3/4 is blue, because she sprayed some cleaner in her eye when she was little & didn't tell bc she didn't want to get yelled at.

Since i've been living in Cali, i've been talking to Ma basically every day, at least once. She has, on a few occasions, to her dismay sometimes, been my talking buddy while i wonder around the grocery store asking "what should i make for dinner" or "where are olives" (yes, i asked her where the olives were in the grocery store on the other side of the states, where she's never been, were). We've talked about how our lives have turned into a weird parallel of each other, both ending up as the "woman of the house" living with a [sometimes] "Grumpy Spouse" (moms words) & an "Irresponsible 19-year-old". it's def weird that we are both the one cleaning up around the house, cooking dinner, being housewives while looking for jobs, making art, blogging, & having our etsy shops.

i miss my mom so much.
i hate that it took a 3,000 mile distance to make us closer, but i'm glad that we are.
i need to go home for a visit.
i need a mom hug.

everyone go & read my moms blog. she's just getting back into it. her & my sister & dad all moved about a month after i did (but they moved one town over, not three time zones..) & she's been trying to get their new apartment in order, so she, like me, is just getting back into the blog-o-sphere.

so, i'm hoping that my mom will be Skyping me in, so i can "pseudo"-sit at the Thanksgiving Dinner Table.

i hope that she's thankful that i wrote this.

this Thanksgiving, i'm thankful for my family, whom i love & miss & hope i can see for Christmas, & i'm so very thankful of the relationship that i have with my mommy.

i can't even think about how much i am thankful for my puppy, Holly. Honestly, just thinking about her at all makes me burst into tears because i miss her so much.

[posted this pic & legit, started to cry... i knew it.. ]

who are you thankful for?

massive... MASSIVE... giveaway!

Your best friend Spanky has something fuck'n FABULOUS in store for one of my lucky luvies!
a maaaaaaaaaaaassive holiday/new year *give away* including a bunch of things that i absolutely luvs*
(sorry boys, i don't think that you'll find too much here you'll be interested in... it's a bit girly...)

all of these items have something relevent the blog, or are special little extras that i felt like giving.
i hope that everyone has a blast fighting to the death politely competing for this UH-mazing giveaway (if i do say so myself)

these are just a few tidbits of all the fun items for this giveaway.

explanation of goodies:
Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block: Read this book & you'll understand how i became me. I swear to you luvies, this book is responsible for 98% of my vocabulary (ok, maybe not 98, i guess i have to give the public school system SOME credit), but it is literally the book that opened my eyes to how words can really depict a beautiful, spontaneous, wonderful fantasy world. I've read it too many time to count (i've never been great at math though, so...)

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk: This book was my introduction to the written word of Chuck Palahniuk. of course, i knew OF him because i was already way obsessed with the movie of Fight Club before i read this one. I ended up trading books with a Summer Duck & this was the book i gave him. Weetzie showed me literary luv & Monsters showed me belletristic beauty in fucked up tradgedy. It's a blow-your-mind kinda book that you cannot put down until your brains are all over the pages & you have nothing but a goofy, dumbfounded, shocked grin on your face. Oh Chuck, I can't wait to hear what my luvies think of this one...

Factory Girl starring Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce: Edie Sedgwick is, without a doubt, one of my absolute favourite icons EVER and Andy Warhol is just such an artistic genius with a sick mind of almost sociopathic quantities... but i'd hang out with him in a heart beat. fo' sho. This movie is gorg, sad and sure to make you fall in luv with poor little rich girl, edie.

"luvs it*" tee by one-word-tees.com: Oh yes, that's right! One-Word-Tees.com is making a two word tee bc they luv me & all of you SO much. O-W-T will be making "luvs it*" tees so you can all spread the luv all over the damn place! (more info on that available once we get the kinky's worked out)
-giveaway winner will receive a voucher for a free "luvs it*" tee. voucher will be a one time use, coupon code to be entered at one-word-tees.com to receive a SpankyLuvsIt.com special tee. (this way you can pick your size & colour options!)

-the others are either suprises, or self explained. We got some Essie nail polish in there (Material Girl and either Midnight Cami or Sexy Divide), some treats, a duck (bc every girl needs a duck like quack*), the soundtrack to the Beatles Cirque du Soleil "LOVE" show (that i saw in Vegas & gushed over) & maybe a few more mysterious extras!
what!? i have to have SOME secrets!
trust me, you want this shiz... i promise.

now the hard part... this is the mother of all give aways that i've even THOUGHT of doing, so you're going to have to worrrrrk for it.

drink. drank. drunk... stumble down memory lane.

it's that day again. the day before Thanksgiving. All my American blog-ers & -ettes know what THAT means... time to get drunk & see all the people we went to high school with that are home for the holidays....
eiy...

Like the tradition stands for the past 2 year, JenBunny & I will suit up & stomp out to the local watering holes to squeeze up to the bar, flashy a toothy smile to our b.tender friends & tell them to "keep them coming, no matter what"... Then, drink in hand, we'll turn from the bar & see a sea of people we haven't seen in ages, haven't thought about in ages, or hoped we'd never see again.

i wonder... will the Ex-Duck be there? Wow... now that i think about it, i don't think i ever even talk about him on here. I guess i'll have to give him a cute name... Well, when we were dating, his nickname (from me) was Stinky Face... So i guess, since he's an ex, i'll call him "Stinky Ex-Duck" hahah

So, JenBunny & I will set out with a new mod squad member, GiaPet, newly 21 (awe, she's so cute) & gearing up for her first time out on T.Giving Eve.

what to WEAR?!
-obviously the most important aspect of the evening. It's f'n cold in the North East, so i can't go scandalicious, plus, i don't want anyone thinking that i went from last years "finished community college & got a job" to "working as a middle class hooker escort". (ew, can u just imagine? the creeper face that sat next to me in Sr. year History corners me & offers me a few bills... UGH i'd vommmm!)
-i def want to show off that, since last years fat fest, i've dumped the lumps & luv it.
-Mall w/ GiaPet & Em Butthead Sis Piece should help get some order better than the Chaos that is my room (& the suitcase i'm still kinda living out of - thanks for the loan AmeCakes!)

what to DRINK!?
-you have to have something to take the edge off, but it's all about pacing yourself after that. one good pregame shot should be perf. but it is a bad idea to wait to get to the bar for that relaxer. inevitably, you'll wait to get up to the bar for so long, that you'll end up already having had 15 awkward small talk convos before the booze even sets in. At that point, you'll be so stressed and annoyed, you'll order 3 shots. That'll make you so silly that the next time you go up, you'll want more &, "a round for the house, while you're at it"... bad news bears for liver & bank account... & for your guilt the next morning while you're snoring off the reunion hangover & mom is running around like a turkey with it's head cut off baking pies. never fun.
-wine looks classy, but i luv it too much to be fair to myself. i can get real silly after 3 or 4 glasses... but i won't stop.
-i guess it'll have to be mainly beer. That will protect me from any shot combos, & keep me occupied enough that i won't be sucking down straight gin or vod. eek. i just dread how my tum will fair in the morning. won't be fun!
-def don't want to get carried out... well... unless...

what to SAY?!?
-Hey! How ARE you?! Me? I'm good... I still live at home.... Still working for the online company... ya... the one w/ the strippers and clowns... uh huh.... no, i'm not seeing anyone... ya, i'm in school... in california... no, no, I take online classes... what am i going to do with that? umm... i'm not sure... When will i be done? oh... uh, about... 6 years? ya... just in time for my 30th birthday... & just AFTER our 10 year reunion... ya... i'll give you an update next time... maybe i'll invite you to my graduation... ya.... well, cheers... have fun.... thanks for ignoring me in High School.... ::big cheesey smile::
when to LEAVE!?!?!
-This is always hard... you don't want to get there TOO early, but if you wait too long, you're never getting up to that bar, even if you do make a regular appearance at the bar & happen to text message with BOTH cute bartenders on a daily basis... These things actually make you LESS likely to get a drink, i've found, bc they know you won't get mad at them. They know you'll understand... ugh.
-Leaving is the biggest problem. inevitbally, you'll be at one bar & the hot guy from Sophomore math will be at the other one. You'll ask someone "who did you see at the other bar" & they'll say his name. So you finish your drink & gather your peeps & rush to the other bar... just to find out "oh, he just went to the OTHER bar" (fuck, good luck, bc you're never gunna get your crowd to venture back up the steep main street hill, probably in the rain, to go back to the same mob so you can see some guy you drooled over when you were supposed to be learning quadratic equations, or... something...)
-i guess as long as i can make it home walking, or get out of there before i make too much of a fool out of myself...

So, to all of you making this adventure out tonight, good luck. i truely hope that we can all have a blasty & remember the good times, laugh off the bad times & look fuckign hot as hell to make our ex-ducks (or ex-chicks) sweat a little.... BUT DO NOT trust the ex if he says he's single... chances are he is NOT... if he doesn't live in town, he probably thinks he can score some yum while "shes" in her hometown... fuck'n asshole...

Have fun, drink your faces off, have a BoMo (AmeCakes word: Black Out Make Out), brag... but, stay classy "san fransisco".

oh ya... &... try not to vom!

also - i read this HILARIOUS article from The Onion about this very night! i LUVS it... read it. it's a great laugh for anyone!
luuuuuuuuvs it!

ps: i'd like to send out some *good vibes* to my hunnie-luv NaNa. Her mother isn't feeling well & is having some tests done. Everyone please think positive thoughts for her & her family. we luvs u mama.
