thirsty thursday: Shamrocktini

not going to lie, nothing in this is at all, even close to what you really SHOULD be drinking on St. Patty's day...
but i'm assuming that everyone knows how to put Jameson & Bailey's into a shot glass, drop it into a Guinness & CHUG, CHUG, CHUG!

Shamrocktini

for the girly men:

paraphenalia:
  • Add 1 to 1 and 1/2 oz of melon flavored vodka (such as Van Gogh's Melon Vodka)
  • Add 1 oz melon liqueur
  • Add a dash of orange juice
Shake or stir quickly and then strain into a lowball or martini glass

    • 3 ounces Vodka

    • 1 ounce milk
    served on the rocks.

Of course, you could always be lame...

    Iced *Tea* Cocktail
    paraphernalia:
    • 1 to 2 parts Earl Grey-infused vodka (see below)
    • 2 parts lemon soda (E.g., Limonata, Squirt, Fresca, 7-UP)
    • a sprig of mint (optional)
    • a thinly sliced lemon (optional)
    • a splash of simple syrup (optional)
To make Earl Grey-infused vodka: For a 750 ml bottle, steep 4 tea bags for four to five hours (or until it's brewed-tea color; don't let it sit too long, or it will get bitter and tannic).

Simple syrup is equal parts by measure of sugar and water, heated to dissolve the sugar, and cooled.

      To construct cocktail:
Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour one to two parts vodka (depending on how strong you like it over ice. Add two parts lemon soda as a mixer. Add lemon, mint, and/or simple syrup if desired.

or just a hot tea with gin to make a "Tea Frog" or whiskey to make it Irish!

      Thirsty Thursdays!

Mm... i'm getting parched just THINKING about this new weekly post.
Everyone (of legal age... of course... haha) luvs to partake in a few cocktails every onces & a while. Some of us have a glass of Pinot with dinner, some a few beers with friends or Cosmo's with the girls... & some of us... ehem... like to get tanked on the weekends. i dabble in all 4... not going to lie.

But, the classic (boring) Rum & Cokes, Gin & Tonics, Vodka & Cranberry & various other "&" drinks can get sooo old.. personally.. i'm over it.

So, let's add a little spice to our binge drinking. I mean, if i'm going to be a *lush* i might as well do it with class.

My first entry may not be the worlds most exciting recipe from the surface, but underneath, for all your chica's out there, this recipe may proove to be "fantastico!"

      Skinny Girl Margarita

      Paraphernalia:

      * 2 oz of clear Tequila (100% agave, Patron Silver)
      - (count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring)
      * A splash of fresh lime juice
      * A splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec

Combine all ingredients & serve on the rox!

Garnish with a lime wedge and salt.

      Makes one serving

The Skinny Girl brand is taking off & i luvs it! Bethenny Frankel (yes, the awesome one from Real Housewives of New York) may spend a lot of air time boohooing about not having a man (i'd like to introduce the new term "baeu-hooing" meaning 'to cry over a man/beau'... a-thank you) but i believe that this chick has got it going on. Not only is she smart, lady's got a good head on those little shoulders, but she's an absolute mogul, down right honest, classy &, can we talk? Bitch is gorg! helloooo!

So, i bought Bethenny's book, "Naturally Thin" when i was watching the show, even though i haven't had a chance to really jump into it (a few months after the purchase), but i plan on it!

ps. this dress is to die...

hey pretty lady, what's your secret? Skinny Girl Margs? Oh, OK!

let's be serious, it's not every "housewife" or even every chick who can pull off this look. 70's style roller girl? I wouldn't have even THOUGHT of that... Amazing. (Jill, you look awesome too!) i'd also kill for those elton john specks.

So, shake up some skinny girl margs ladies, a toast to a 3 day weekend, 4th of July fireworks, a little BBQ & def to love, luck & get'n skinnnnny! Thanx Bethenny!
